Letters from Alumni: Supporting Students During Exam Season

It was another successful year running the annual "letters from alumni" program. This cherished tradition invites alumni to share motivational messages, which are printed on postcards and delivered to over 5,000 first-year students living both on and off campus. Interhall Council generously sponsored the printing of these postcards.

For Declan Carey, a first-year Environmental Science student, receiving a letter came at the perfect time. “Getting a letter from an alum, especially during exams, was the little boost I didn’t know I needed. It was a small reminder that I wasn't alone in this journey!"

This year, over 270 alumni participated, offering their words of wisdom and support to students as they tackled a particularly stressful time of year.

Each letter was carefully delivered by Residence Life staff and through the Off-Campus University Students Club (OCUS), ensuring students received their messages no matter where they lived.

Thank you to all the grads who contributed to this initiative. We will continue to accept alumni submissions all year round, so feel free to submit your note here. This thoughtful tradition exemplifies the spirit of the University of Guelph, reminding us that we are always #ForeverAGryphon.
